Just a mini-update :-)
Thought I would just post some random thoughts now that I have lived here for a full week! Whew! Where to begin.....Today we finally took the subway on our own. Fun times! We had to change from the metro to the train and then take a van to the American Club. But we did it! It was around $12 roundtrip. Katie is free on public transportation for now. Thought you may wonder about some of the prices. We did eat at McDonald's yesterday and the double cheeseburger combo Trevor got was around $5. The ice cream cones were around a buck and the sundaes a $1.50 or so. About a 5lb bag of flour was $10 at my local grocery. Milk we are going through like water around here. I think it would have been cheaper for us to have shipped a cow over with us. It is served in quarts here and in case you don't know there are 4 quarts in a gallon. The quarts are about $3 a piece so you can do the math on that one! The accomplishment of the day was finding deli turkey meat. It is sold in grams here as is all meat. I think that is really better so I don't realize that I just paid like $20 for a lb of ground chuck. Guess the moral of this story is that I need to become a vegetarian?? Although fruits and veggies are not cheap as well. More rice perhaps? :):) We also live uphill from the grocery store-not good planning. Going down to get the food is easy, but then I end up walking uphill heavy laden with my packages. I am hoping this will develop those calves of steel I have always wanted. Stay tuned. Tim has found a wonderful bakery which is on his way home and surprised us all with a bag of goodies the other night. Some chocolate covered doughnuts and other random things that were quite tasty! The chocolate here is more dark and less sweet. But, it's all good! Looking forward to the weekend and exploring our first church experience. So for now, Sayonara!
