Latest and Greatest

Life has been very busy here. Each weekend we try to explore a new area of Tokyo. It is fun that there is so much to see and do! This past week Trevor went on a 2 night camping trip with 6th grade. They went into the mountains, slept in cabins and milked cows and hiked 14 miles. He had a great time! There were 5 boys and 5 girls in his cabin and ONE shower! No parents were allowed. What an experience. He is excited because he gets his band instrument this week. We'll see how much he enjoys practicing..... and I enjoy listening.....He played soccer against the Christian Academy on Saturday. It was a beautiful day here and Kyle and Katie enjoyed their playground! We also enjoyed their concession stand which featured chili dogs and other American treats like Skittles! On the way back we found a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop and got our mixed dozen. WE were so excited! We had to take 3 different trains to the soccer game and it took about an hour to get there. Today we tried (for the 2nd time) to go to the 100 Yen park. We tried to drive last time and could not find any available parking in the area. This time we took a CAB! So worth it! This park was a paid admission but was very clean and nice with lots of vending machines with drink choices. I had the afternoon tea which is like sweetened iced tea. Trevor had the grape soda and Katie chose grape juice. Kyle had coke! We took the subway back and didn't even have to switch trains which was nice. We are thankful that it has cooled down some here finally. Looking forward to next weekend as the kids have a 4 day weekend and Dad at least gets off Monday for the National Holiday of SPORTS DAY! Wooopeee! The language barrier is tough, but you just get used to not understanding anything. I don't need to wear my glasses because I can't read anything anyway!! ;-)

Sounds like you guys are making the most of your experience. Glad to hear you are keeping busy and the kids are so involved. I can't believe you let Trevor go on a 2 day trip with 5 girls in his cabin! Wow that is crazy! I'm not ready for that! Great post and good to hear about your adventures! Missing you here!
